leb die sekunde;)

Let’s startwith few words about the event. Selenium Camp first time opened in February 2011 and was the first conference completely devoted to Selenium in the world. This year it gathered over 300 participants and 18 speakers: 3 foreign and 3 membersof Selenium team. 18 reports from really experienced and high qualifiedspecialists in Automation Testing were represented there.

What wasthe goal for us? I think this is kind of rhetorical question. Any QA engineer nowadays knows at least what ‘Selenium’ word means. And for Automation QA thist ool became indispensable as it’s directly used in our day-to-day work. So, information and knowledge are the key moments and our goal in visiting Selenium Camp.

Would like to mention the best speakers and reports I was able to listen to.

On first place, of course, one of the Selenium team members – Alexey Barantsev and his ‘Selenium Vs AJAX’. This report was full of WebDriver (Selenium 2) key differences definitions, interesting features descriptions and real practical tricks representations. I think, each listener could has got there clear understanding of WebDriver architecture, principles of work, some minor disadvantages and complexities in interactions with IE, also, the ways of solving such difficulties.

Also, Denis Chernilevskiy told about problems of embedded product test system growth. The tasks his automation testing team already faced and represented solution gave us the right direction for thought. On our project phase we are a couple steps from such difficulties and obtained experience gives us huge advantages to implement better solution.

‘WebDriver: one migration story’ by Igor Hrol and ‘Selenium sandwich preparation manual’ by Vladimir Kryvenka gave general idea of automation test framework architecture.

Some more practical skills shared Dmitry Kovalenko in ‘Cool tricks with Selenium’ and Jari Bakken in ‘WebDriver Internals’. Jari also gave detailed schema of Selenium tools functional models.

The conference was performed on 3 stages so it became physically impossible to catch as much info as it was given to all participants together. During March 2012 video materials with all speakers’ presentations will appear on SeleniumCamp official site. So, don’t miss this possibility to catch something really useful. And lets meet next year on Selenium Camp! ;)
